In this episode we are joined by George Murray, a Vietnam vet, a retired FBI agent and Walt's dad. We begin with George's days in college in the ROTC program. He trained to become a helicopter pilot and put those skills to use during one tour of duty. One of his more harrowing moments in Vietnam related to crashing his helicopter. After his service, George made a shift to the most prestigious law enforcement agency in the country -- the FBI. He was involved in several undercover operations as well as regular investigations. One of the most well-known was the Atlanta child murders case. Today, George stays busy reading, chatting with colleagues and golfing as much as possible.
MOVIES/STREAMING:
Walt is watching the High Score documentary on
Netflix that Alan recommend a few weeks ago. He highly recommends
For Our Eyes Only, a James Bond Documentary on
Netflix. He also just started to watch the first season of
Utopia. George has been preoccupied with watching
the Atlanta Braves in post season play. However,
he did recommend the Amazon Prime series, Bosch.
Alan is working through season two of Longmier and
enjoying the uptick in the pace of the episodes.
READING:
Walt is continuing his reading of Michael Connelly's, "The
Black Echo." George immediately put in a plug for, "I'm
Ready to Talk: Vietnam Vets Preserve Their Stories." He also
happens to have written three of the chapters in the book.
Additionally, he is reading, "A
Storm in Flanders," regarding a battle in Flanders in WWI and
"The
Allies," which dives into the relationships between Roosevelt,
Churchill and Stalin. In this presidential cycle, Alan is covered
up with reading news and staying abreast on current events.

Walt just started listening to the podcast Norm
MacDonald Live and is really enjoying it. George, admittedly
new to podcasts, is listening to
